Invisible spies, and Les Miles' other ideas for stopping Cam Newton

Someone asked LSU coach Les Miles this morning if he was considering a "spy" Saturday to counter Auburn's outrageously productive quarterback, Cameron Newton. To do that, Miles said, you'd have to be crazy – mankind doesn't have the technology yet to spy Cam Newton:

"If you take a spy and play him up and in, you're getting blocked. If you take a spy and play him in the center of the field and allow the deception in the perimeter to be divided, can you tackle Cam Newton in a position where you stop him from being a first down carry.

"It becomes a very difficult situation to put one guy on Cam Newton. It just doesn't seem to pay any dividends to me."

When asked how he would defend Newton otherwise, Miles responded, "If I could have a spy no one could see, a guy on the field that didn't count, that would be a great answer."

An invisible spy? Could it be ... no. No, it's not possible. Unless ... unless he's actually done it. Could it be that the depths of Les Miles' demented, Faustian laboratory beneath the swamps of Lafourche Parish finally yielded the long-sought secrets of the seven-inch linebacker?

If you see sixth-leading tackler Karnell Hatcher disappear into the locker room moments before Newton is afflicted by a series of sudden pratfalls on the goal line, don't say you weren't warned.
