No Enes Kanter No Problem for Kentucky, Terrence Jones in Opener

Filed under:

Terrence Jones Terrence Jones made sure Kentucky didn't miss Enes Kanter in Kentucky's season debut.

Or for that matter, John Wall, Patrick Patterson, Daniel Orton, Eric Bledsoe or DeMarcus Cousins. The star freshman seemed to pick up the slack for them all.

Jones become the first Kentucky freshman to debut with a double-double since Jules Camara in 1998, stuffing the stat sheet with 25 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three steals in Kentucky's 88-64 win over Eastern Tennessee State.

Not only did the Wildcats not miss any of the five players they put into the NBA draft last season, or the ineligible Kanter, they just plain didn't miss much at all.

Kentucky hit 13-26 from from behind the arc and 33-67 from the floor, easily defeating the Buccaneers series of zones and early man-to-man. The three-point barrage marked a complete turnaround from Kentucky's NCAA tournament-ending loss against West Virginia, in which the Wildcats missed their first 20 attempts and finished 4-of-32.
