Already facing charges in a case in which the former star linebacker is accused of having sex with an underaged prostitute, Taylor is also in a battle as he seeks to cut monthly support payments to his chronically ill, out-of-wedlock child, The New York Post reported on Saturday.
Taylor's daughter, Erielle, 12, suffers from Crohn's disease. He is seeking to slash $500 from the $1825 he currently pays, Ebony Washington, the child's mother, told The Post.
Washington had filed papers asking Bergen County (N.J.) family court to increase the weekly payment she receives for Erielle. The additional funds would go toward medical expenses, currently unreimbursed according to the newspaper.
Taylor failed to appear for a mandatory hearing on Friday, claiming a medical problem that prevented him from flying in from Florida.
"Why shouldn't I issue a bench warrant [for his arrest]?" judge Peter J. Melchionne asked Taylor's lawyer, James Keys.
The judge then warned Keys that if Taylor was a no-show again, he'd issue the warrant.
Erielle is one of seven kids Taylor has fathered with different women, according to court documents.
