With the exception of the SEC East rubber match between Florida and South Carolina, most of today's tilts are placeholders: Oregon is looking to stay on its track to the BCS title game at Cal. Ohio State, Iowa and Wisconsin are trying to keep pace in the four-way Big Ten logjam against Penn State, Northwestern and Indiana. TCU is out against San Diego State to tighten its grip on the position of "next man in" if one of the top two in the BCS standings falls down the stretch. Oklahoma State is in Austin to tighten its grip on first place in the Big 12 South, where Texas is just looking to keep its fraying chances at a winning season intact for another week.
The real mystery of the day: Is Cam Newton going to suit up against Georgia with the cloud hanging over his eligibility? Do the Tigers take the risk of playing a star facing major accusations that could ultimately cost them the SEC and BCS championships? Do they risk sitting the dominant star who's put them in position for those rewards in the first place? Auburn isn't saying. But when the Tigers kick off at 3:30 ET, you'll know it here first.
